Anglesey – Holy Island and the Coastal Path
Visiting the Isle of Anglesey was actually a bit of a last minute addition to our itinerary, after my brother in law Gareth had raved about it, and I can tell you it did not disappoint. We have already decided we definitely want to head back to do the 130 mile Coastal Path that works its way around the island (see link below).
The Coastal Path
We set up camp at Blackthorn Farm, about 2 miles outside the centre of Holyhead, Holy Island. Holyhead itself is not the prettiest town but it is convenient for stocking up on supplies before heading to stay by the coast. The farm is a B&B and campsite and is extremely well managed by friendly people. The price is not the cheapest at £12 pppn, but the facilities are fab, including clean, hot showers and a covered kitchen/sink area to prepare food and wash up (see link below).

You can order breakfast in the main house and there is a little shop with necessities and treats like chocolates and ice cream. The real winner here is the proximity to the coast (just a 5 minute walk to the Coastal Path) and the view out to sea.
We spent the 3 days at Blackthorn going for walks along sections of the Coastal Path near us and visiting beaches, even daring to take a dip in the extremely refreshing water at Church Bay. It may have been freezing and took about 10 minutes to gear myself up before heading in, but it was so beautiful and clear that I went in again.

We had a very relaxed stay on the very friendly Holy Island, but apart from beaches and walking there are so many things to do in Anglesey like coasteering, paddleboarding, coast safaris, kayaking, horse riding and many more.
